Prospective buyers on A Place in the Sun brought their property search to a standstill after spotting a significant concern.
Channel 4 presenter Jean Johansson encountered an “issue” when Nat and Dave from Wiltshire hit a stumbling block while hunting for their perfect holiday retreat in Lanzarote.
The couple hoped their budget of £160,000 would prove sufficient to secure their ideal property. Having visited Lanzarote more than once or twice a year throughout the past decade, they were determined to fulfil their lifelong ambition of owning a holiday home in the area for family and friends to enjoy.
They informed Jean that they were seeking a one-bedroom apartment with outdoor space, situated within a 15-minute walk from the beach. The Channel 4 presenter guided the buyers through five separate options in the hope of tracking down their perfect home.
Dave and Nat were won over by the interior of the first apartment, nestled in the heart of Puerto del Carmen. The couple fell for the stylish open-plan living and dining space, along with the two bedrooms on offer.
Nat remarked: “Overall the inside is beautiful.” Nevertheless, both were united in their view that the location simply wasn’t right for them. Positioned above an Irish pub in a bustling area, the buyers concluded it was “not quite what we imagined”, reports Liverpool Echo.

Jean was left deflated by their reaction and was eager to make amends with her second property, whisking Dave and Nat away to the more tranquil surroundings of Costa Teguise.
Dave and Nat were captivated by everything the apartment had to offer, from the pool and stunning sea views to the generous outdoor space. The open-plan layout struck them as bright and roomy, with Nat declaring: “This is the dream.”
Gazing out at the “perfect” ocean panorama, she enthused: “I can just see myself sitting there on a little bench with a glass of wine looking at the sea.”
Jean had already found a strong frontrunner, which meant her remaining options struggled to make the same impression. The couple travelled to Playa Blanca to view a third property, but cut the visit short after encountering a significant problem.
Dave was forced to duck as the doorway was too low for him to pass through comfortably on the way to the outdoor area. Jean warned: “Mind your head”, prompting the buyer to respond: “This is going to be an issue.”
He continued: “And for our son who is six foot eight.” Nat was in full agreement, remarking: “It’s a bit too cramped, there are lots of long legs in our family.”
When asked whether they wished to carry on viewing, Dave replied: “I think we should probably move on.”
Jean’s fourth option failed to win them over either, feeling “too residential” for their tastes. The fifth property was similarly dismissed after Nat took issue with the “poor upkeep of the complex”.
Ultimately, the couple decided to place an offer on their favourite property – the second apartment in Costa Teguise. After lengthy negotiations, Dave and Nat secured their dream holiday home for £141,300.
