While home appliances can be a bit boring to shop for, I think finding a matching set for your kitchen brings everything together and is way more fun.
That’s why when Morphy Richards launched its new Cassini range with a matching microwave, kettle and toaster, I knew I had to try it.
It has a modern design with hexagons all appearing on each item, plus round push buttons on the toaster and kettle.
The range is available in three colours – Moonless Night Black, Olivine Green, Outer Space Navy – and while the green and navy options would really add to kitchens of similar themes, I thought black would be the best for my more neutral space.
So, here’s what I thought when I tried out the Cassini microwave, kettle and toaster and how they compare to others I’ve used before.
What I thought of Morphy Richards’ new Cassini range
Morphy Richards Cassini 20L Digital Microwave
RRP: £129.99
The microwave is said to have “a spacious 20-litre interior” and fit “full-sized dinner plates with ease”, and I can say it does exactly that.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little worried about my main dinner plates fitting in there, but they managed to fit and didn’t cause a problem.
The microwave has a 95-minute timer and six power levels, which have taken some getting used to.

I’m not sure I’ve ever studied a microwave in as much detail before, but now I know that it offers a variety of functions and that you can change the power level according to the weight of the food, I’m well away.
Call me odd, but I think this microwave has a lovely modern and sleek design with the mirrored door and silver and black features.
I love that the design is subtle but incorporates the Cassini hexagons on the front.
Morphy Richards Cassini four Slice Toaster
RRP: £69.99
Also available in the three colours is the toaster, which has space for four slices of toast at once – a must in a busy house like mine.
Again, the hexagonal pattern is featured on the front and is more obvious than the microwave but not overbearing.

The toaster has a frozen button, making it easy to toast frozen bread, saving some time if you forget to defrost it, and you can also expect a re-heat button – another convenient feature.
It’s easy to clean with removable crumb trays.
Overall, it’s a pretty standard toaster, but it looks great while toasting your bread.
In fact, I’d be happy to have this toaster out on the worktop for all to see, rather than hiding it in a nook of the kitchen.
Cassini 1.7l Jug Kettle
RRP: £59.99
I think the Cassini kettle boils water quickly and looks great out on the worktop, so that’s a bonus!
However, while Morphy Richards says it features “a minimum fill indicator” that “helps save energy by boiling only what’s needed”, I think it’s difficult to know exactly how much water is in the kettle.
This is because there’s no visible indicator of how much water there is inside when looking at it from the outside.

Instead, you have to open the lid and check the minimum and maximum labels that are marked inside.
To be able to boil only the water you need, I think you need to have an indicator on the outside of the kettle with cup measurements on it, as my old kettle does.
Having said that, it has some useful features too.
If you like to tidy your kettle away and avoid leads trailing across the worktop, the kettle’s stand has built-in storage for the lead.
Overall, I think the individual items are more expensive than others from different brands, but it’s good that you can buy them in a set and save some money compared to buying the items separately.
I think they really add a bit of class to the kitchen space and don’t look clunky like other appliances I’ve seen.
How to get 25% discount on Morphy Richards’ Cassini kitchen range
Individually, the items cost £259.97 on the Morphy Richards website, but as a set, you can expect to 25% less as it’s offering customers a discount for matching sets.
The set with all three items in it costs £279.97 (more than the items individually), but you only get the 25% discount by adding the set to the online basket.
This means you get 25% off £279.97, bringing the overall price down to £209.98 – around £50 cheaper than buying them all individually.
I think they’re quite an expensive option, but the discount makes it more tempting.
I love the modern and unique design of these appliances, and I think they really add something to the kitchen.
