Is this Britain’s drabbest house? Milton Keynes “bunker” divides opinion online

A four-bed house in Milton Keynes has divided opinion online – with one commenter describing as the ‘drabbest’ house they had ever seen.

The detached home, located on a cul-de-sac in the north of the Buckinghamshire city, is advertised as being an “ideal family home” by agents Purplebricks.

But some users on social media platform Reddit were less than impressed.

In a post titled ‘this house makes me feel sad’, people made fun of the house – which has a large windowless wall above the first floor at the front of the property.

The original poster said: “I’m sorry for anyone who lives in similar. I have never seen such a drab, depressing external of a house before.

“Bonus points for Milton Keynes.”

Another person commented: “There are similar style houses near where I live and my main beef with them is that the windows look so tiny compared to the wall space.

“From the outside this house looks like a war bunker.”

Another wrote: “Totally agree – terrible. Must’ve been anticipating a modern day window tax.

“Now there’s an idea, Rachel.”

However, other commenters were more forgiving.

One said: “I can’t agree, I don’t know much about Milton Keynes, but this looks like a decent house to me that could be lovely with a bit of TLC.

“I particularly love the wood floors!”

Another wrote: “Never understood the obsession with ‘kerb appeal’. You live inside a house after all.

“This looks like a decent buy. And Milton Keynes is a nice place to live.

“Most of the hate comes from snobby Londoners who’ve never visited.”

The home, which has a guide price of £365,000, was last sold in 2012 for £177,500, according to Land Registry data.

It’s advertised as having no upper chain, and having separate kitchen and dining rooms.

The master bedroom includes an en-suite, and the property has a garage and parking.

The 114.9 square-metre home (1,237 square-feet) also includes a rear enclosed garden.

Council tax at the band D property, located in the Stantonbury suburb, is £2,389.55 per year.
