Bidding wars as five island properties sell at auction

Several Isle of Wight properties sold under the hammer in the latest Clive Emson auction. 

Lot 52, the two-bedroom Orchard End at Undercliff Drive, Niton, went for £101,000 – which was £21,000 above its guide price.

The freehold detached property, with a garage, had some structural damage and attracted 24 bids.

Several structurally damaged houses in the Ventnor area have been sold through Clive Emson recently, including one in its February auction which went for £138,000 in another bidding war.

In Shanklin, lot 165, a two-bedroom vacant apartment on the first floor at 16A Atherley Road, fetched £71,000.

Meanwhile, in East Cowes, lot 152, at 21 and 21A Cambridge Road – a pair of single-bedroom flats for freehold investment – went for £167,000.

Lot 171, a single-bedroom flat with parking and a share of the freehold at 1 Newlands Villa Apartments, Royal Crescent, Sandown, sold for £73,000 in a bidding war, with 46 bids and the final one coming in at £23,000 above its guide price.

Lot 73, a vacant two-bedroom seafront flat at 11 Napoleons Landing, Esplanade, Sandown – a first-floor property with a sea-view balcony and gated parking – fetched £165,000.

Clive Emson Auctioneers’ next online auction concludes on May 7, with bidding going live 48 hours beforehand.

Lot entries close on April 13, with the catalogue online from April 16.
