Displaced residents have been allowed to return home after a blaze tore through a three-storey mid-terraced property in Kidwelly in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The police are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire but have now left the scene.
After the fire broke out just after 4am on March 24, some neighbouring properties were evacuated and they had been forced away as a precautionary measure. Other nearby residents were advised to stay indoors as firefighters tackled the blaze.

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We can confirm that police have now left the scene of a fire that broke out at a property in Lady Street, Kidwelly, and displaced residents have been able to return home.
“The fire was reported at around 4.20am on Tuesday (March 24), and as a precautionary measure several homes around the affected property were evacuated.”
“We are pleased to confirm that, following work to make the building safe, all residents were able to return home yesterday evening. The road remains closed while further work is carried out to the highway.
“We’d like to thank residents and the wider community for their patience while the necessary enquiries were carried out.
“While officers are no longer present at Lady Street, an investigation to determine the cause of the fire continues.
“We ask any witnesses, or anyone who may have any information about the cause of the fire, to get in touch. We would also like to hear from anyone with CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage from between 11pm on Monday (23/3) and 4am on (24/3).”
Dyfed-Powys Police are urging anyone with any information or footage relating to the cause of the fire to contact them and quote the reference 027 of 24/3.
On Wednesday, a statement from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service read: “At 4.06am on Tuesday, March 24th, the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Kidwelly, Pontiets, Llanelli, Morriston, Tumble, Carmarthen and Port Talbot Fire Stations were called to an incident at Lady Street in Kidwelly.
“Crews responded to a fire involving one three-storey, mid-terraced property. The fire was located on the property’s third floor.
“Crews utilised eight breathing apparatus sets, two hose reel jets, two 45mm hoses, four thermal imaging cameras and small gear to extinguish the fire. Crews were supported by the attendance of the water bowser appliances from Tumble and Port Talbot Fire Stations, as well as the aerial turntable ladder appliance from Morriston Fire Station.”
