A nursing home has been recognised for its support of former service personnel.
Tudor Lodge, situated adjacent to HMS Collingwood, has been accredited as a Veteran Friendly Home under the National Veteran Friendly Framework.
During a recent visit to Tudor Lodge to mark the occasion, Captain John Cromie and a group of phase 2 trainees spent time with residents, many of whom are veterans or spouses of those who served.

Directors Jane and Mark Palmer said: “When we opened Tudor Lodge 20 years ago, we always wanted our nursing home to be known for exceptional nursing care, and we’ve built a brilliant team that has helped us achieve this.
“We realised that we had a high percentage of Veteran residents, and we’ve always thought that their service was something to be so proud of and to be celebrated.
“To be granted ‘Veteran Friendly’ Nursing Home status is an honour and we are delighted to be recognised.”
They also praised the support of HMS Collingwood and the personal stories of residents who served.
The directors said: “We’re so proud of our links to our local armed forces, including our close neighbour HMS Collingwood who have always supported Tudor Lodge so well, to the delight of residents.
“To see the residents with their personal biographies explaining their service, including photos and medals on display, was so heartwarming.”

HMS Collingwood’s Victory Squadron trainees regularly visited the home and took part in activities with residents, with their involvement forming a key part of Tudor Lodge’s successful accreditation.
Guests at the event included Dame Caroline Dinenage MP, Mrs Arabella Birdwood DL, deputy mayor of Fareham councillor Tina Ellis, representatives from SSAFA, and residents’ families.
Captain Cromie said: “Thank you Tudor Lodge for inviting us to attend your event.
“It is a true privilege to be given the opportunity to meet these amazing residents many of whom are veterans.
“We look forward to continuing our affiliation with you.”
